Congratulations to all our volunteers, members, and supporters on a great election. All our target precincts in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Goleta were filled with walkers on Election Day. Our PUEBLO volunteers joined over one million volunteers across the country in creating the largest voter turnout in history. And good things happen when working families vote!
Congratulations to the coalition of organizations in which we proudly worked in passing Measure A, electing Doreen Farr our next 3rd District County Supervisor, re-electing long time PUEBLO member Annette Cordero, and electing Susan Deacon to the Santa Barbara School Board, and PUEBLO member Margaret Connell to the Goleta City Council. We did it! Si se pudo!
Our work is never over, and the organizing must continue. PUEBLO would not be successful without a base of supporters who understand the importance of electoral work for winning and maintaining progressive community change. The Christmas time eviction of 35 low-income families in the city of Santa Barbara is just one example of the need for local political action. PUEBLO is currently working to pressure the developer into negotiations on a settlement, and then will work for a stronger City ordinance to stop this type of abuse in the future. But, we can not do this work alone; we need people like you.
This year, more than ever, PUEBLO will depend on it's membership drive. A large number of small donations can make a huge impact as one candidate taught us this election. So, whatever it is, please send your donation today.
With the energy from our victories lifting us, what better time is there to renew your PUEBLO membership. Your membership helps fund our important community organizing and political action work around affordable housing, public transportation, renter's rights, living wages, immigration reform, and justice in education. For your membership you will receive our newsletter, online updates and actions, and special invitations to upcoming events.
Please take a few minutes right now to fill out the enclosed membership application and join the only community organization in Santa Barbara County organizing low-income working families. Your donation of $25 or more will help PUEBLO build a voice for working families.
Join us today and support community organizing and progressive change in Santa Barbara County.
Sincerely,
Belen Seara
Executive Director
