1) In another attempt to fix the broken immigrations system at the local level the Santa Maria City Council will be considering a recommendation to implement the E-Verify program for a six-month trial period.

Local anti-immigrant ordinances have not solved immigration problems, on the contrary they divide communities, pit neighbor against neighbor and often result in discrimination against citizens and non-citizens.
PUEBLO Invites the Santa Maria community to voice their concerns on this issue.

2) Rental Housing Roundtable Townhall Meeting April 8th
On April 8th the Rental Housing Roundtable will be holding a Townhall Meeting with our Supervisor Doreen Farr in attendance.
This is a chance for YOU as renters to voice your concerns around your rights and protections.

It is critical that we have a strong presence at this townhall so that our representatives can see how necessary it is to address the needs of renters in Santa Barbara County.

PUEBLO's Immigration Committee along with the American Indian Movement, ACLU, Just Communities and other organizations will be hosting a Community Values Forum: Immigration Reform, the Economy and Safer Communities. Some of our invited guests include Congresswoman Lois Capps, Chief Cam Sanchez and Sheriff Bill Brown.
