TAKE ACTION TO PROTECT TENANTS’ RIGHTS!

Two years ago, 36 low-income families were evicted from the Modoc Apartments due to renovations. This eviction disrupted the school year for over 90 children and displaced many families in the middle of the holiday season.

Two years later, the Board of Supervisors will finally vote on the amendments to Ordinance 4444, an Ordinance that would protect tenants who are evicted at no fault of their own. The Rental Housing Roundtable, a coalition of over 30 organizations and landlords, has worked to ensure that tenants evicted due to building code violations, demolition or renovation are fairly compensated for the disruption that evictions cause to families and to the community. The hearing will take place on:

Tuesday, December 7
9:30am
County Administrative Building (Anacapa and Anapamu)
105 E. Anapamu St (4th floor)

North County: Betteravia Government Center’s Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, 511 E. Lakeside Parkway, Suite 141, Santa Maria (remote access)

The Rental Housing Roundtable urges community members to voice their support for the amendments proposed by the coalition by attending and/or speaking at the hearing. Please wear black.

If you cannot make it to the hearing, CALL or EMAIL your Supervisor and tell her/him that you support the amendments to Ordinance 4444 recommended by the Rental Housing Roundtable. Here is a list of the Supervisors:
